Ants divide their jobs among themselves within the colony. The queens only job is to lay eggs. All other female ants are works; they feed larvae, take out the colony's waste, gather food and supplies, or defend the nest. Male ants' only job is to mate with the queen

Some Queens will unite to found a nest. This initially cooperative association (which increases the chance of establishing a colony) dissolves once a new adult workers are birthed, the Queens will then fight to the death, even more sinister still, some colonies can steal brood from their neighbors, putting them to work as slaves
